We realized about halfway
through today that it could be our last day camping. We will be visiting friends and family the next
two weeks and although we may sleep in our camper some, we will be in driveways
and not in a campground. We might have
one more camping day, but you never know the way we change our minds constantly. Anyway, we kind of treated it like the last
day. We hung around the CG so the kids
could enjoy the big field and the playground.
We did some school and laundry.
We shopped at one last “antique” store.
(It was more of a craft store). We
filled up the truck with gas and cleaned up our camp site. We grilled ham and cheese sandwiches over the
fire. We all took one final shower in
the really awesome bathhouse. (Truly the
best bathrooms we have had the whole trip.
There are about 8 huge individual bathrooms with showers. The whole building is really warm and the
water is so hot. It is how we have warmed
up at night before getting into bed. It
has been getting very cold (40s) and very windy in the evenings. Longest parenthesis of the whole blog, I
think!) And we watched one final “Brady
Bunch” with all four of us squeezed into our bed.
This is definitely not the
last day of our trip, but it is perhaps the end of our camping trip as we have
known it. Am I sad? I think, like most endings, it is
bittersweet. The end of one thing means
the beginning of something else. I do
not regret a day of this trip, but I will be happy to be warm once again and to
no longer smell like smoke. (Though the
smell might linger for a while). At the
same time, I will miss the wide open spaces where we have been living. We all feel that six months has been the
perfect length. I feel that November is
a good month to go indoors. But just for
a little while…
You shouldn't smoke. It causes cancer.
ReplyDeleteI get all excited that I have a comment and this is what I find.
