Today was a hang around camp
day. There is no laundry or wi-fi
here. There are great showers and a nice
playground. The girls played and I
read. Then we did a little school. Brad switched out the bathroom faucet so now
the shower works again! It looks nicer
too because when the original cream shower hose broke, we replaced it with a
silver one. Now the faucet is silver
too. I’ll just cross my fingers and hope
that the shower head will break soon so we’ll have an excuse to get a silver
one of those too and then it will all match!
Just after Brad headed off to
Bismarck to meet Clay and David (B) for dinner, we had new neighbors pull in
next to us. They were heading home (near
Fargo) and stopped for one last night.
They had a 5 year old son and an 8 year old daughter. We immediately struck up a conversation and a
friendship. The kids played together
from that moment until bedtime. I was a
little disappointed that the one time Brad was gone, we had this great family
next door. I have been surprised at how
few families we have run into at campgrounds.
(Have I said this already?) There
have been quite a few young adults/singles in camping and backpacking groups,
lots of older couples and the families have mostly been older than us with
teens. So this was quite a treat. Brad got back early enough to visit with them
for a few minutes. Carmen will be sad
when they leave tomorrow.
Brad had a great dinner. It was everything he hoped it would be and
more. He is still trying to digest the
reality of it. They seem genuinely
interested in us and our trip. I think
some of it may also be Brad’s fascinating and varied life of artistry, history
and hobbying. In meeting with Clay and
David he was again struck by how kind and generous North Dakotans are. We are really looking forward to tomorrow.
