We didn’t freeze or anything
last night, but it is definitely the coldest we have been on the trip. Not sure of the temp in the trailer, but I
would guess in the 40s. It got down to
the 30s. The sun was out when we got up,
but the wind was still whipping. I
started the truck and turned on the heat so as soon as the girls got dressed
they could jump into the truck. We were
still hitched up and not hooked up, so leaving was pretty simple. Brad just took down the stabilizers and we were
ready to go! We got up at 7:00 and left
at 7:50. That is a record!
We met Brad’s parents at
Monticello. It was cool there too, but
bearable in the sun. It turned out to be
a beautiful day. We toured the house and
then ate a picnic lunch. I took the
girls to the Discovery Center for hands on activities. That is a neat place. It’s a lot of the stuff we saw in the house,
but you can touch it and play with it!
Then Audra went with Nana and Pop on a guided slavery talk and Carmen
went with Brad and I on the garden tour.
We all enjoyed Monticello. It is
really amazing that these homes have been preserved/restored so that we can
enjoy them. It is so educational.
We then took the trailer to
get set up at a nearby KOA. After
getting set up and cleaned up, we met Brad’s parents in Waynesboro near their
hotel at an Applebee’s. That was the
best dinner I have had in a long time. I
was very hungry, it was very warm, and I didn’t have to cook it! Go Applebee’s!
Then we said goodbye, but it
was really, “See you in a few weeks!”
