Cape Hatteras National
Seashore is very, very long. We are
staying on Hatteras Island in the Village of Hatteras. It is very, very far south on the island. Good because it is far away from the
touristy, commercial areas. Bad because
it is an hour and a half south of Wright Bro Mem, Fort Raliegh and Currituck
lighthouse. Duck and Nags Head seem
busier and more commercial, but they are nothing like Gulf Shores. I don’t think we saw any high rises, only
houses, maybe a few condos.
The drive is pretty. The sound is on your right and the ocean on
your left. Lots of sand and dunes. Hatteras is mostly a fishing village.
We got to our house (Blue
Heaven) and easily parked the camper under the carport. So thankful to have a ~little~ camper! This house is the nicest beach house we’ve
ever stayed in. It is so cheap in the
off season. It took us a little while to
get moved in. We had to pack and then
unload and the unpack. It’s nice to have
the camper semi emptied out. We will
clean and reorganize as we settle back in at the end of this week. I did laundry. It was enjoyable. Aah, clean clothes. The girls each have their own room with their
own TV. (Not sure if Carmen will really
sleep by herself). Audra has a full size
bed. We are thankful for all these
little things. We love our camper, but
it makes us more appreciative of luxuries.
Mom and Dad got here about
30 min after us. The girls were soo
excited. It is hard to believe that I
have seen my Uncle Keith more recently than my mom. We talk all the time, so it doesn’t feel like
it has been too long, but it is good to be with them.
Dad and the girls tried out
the hot tub. They said it was gooood.
