Brad and Sal hunted some
more in the morning. Then we met them
for lunch. (Cook Out). After that we all drove over to hike out to
High Bridge. This was the highest bridge
in the world during the Civil War. The
confederates crossed it and tried to burn it to prevent the Union soldiers from
following them. It was a railroad bridge
at some point and then fell into disrepair.
It has now been rebuilt as part of the rails to trails program. We walked 3 miles to get to it! They didn’t realize it was quite so far. Once we got there and had rested a minute,
the guys started racing back to get the car to come pick us up at a
crossroads. We started noticing that the
people coming from the other direction didn’t look quite so tired. I asked someone how far the parking lot was
on that side and they said about a mile!
I called the guys and they brought the car to that lot to pick us
up. Sweet little Nora did great. Sal, Audra and I took turns carrying her
some, but she walked a lot! Those little
legs have lots of energy. It was a
beautiful day to be outside. We did stop
for drinks and ice cream on the way home!
Ashley had offered to keep
the girls so Brad and I could go out on a date.
We went to Bonefish Grill. That
was a nice treat. It’s been a while.
