Day 152 (Oct 15) – Virginia Beach

We had to say goodbye to our friends today.  It is always bittersweet – nice to get back to our routine, but sad to leave friends, especially when they have made you feel so welcomed!  Their little girls were so cute.  It made me remember fondly those days of little ones.

We got gone, in the drizzle, and headed to Virginia Beach.  Didn’t know much about where we were going.  I had seen First Landing State Park on the map and found one good review.  $32 a night.  We’ll try it.  We are right on the beach – no view, but a very short walk across the boardwalk.  Carmen was begging to go.  It is warm today, but also a good chance of rain and storms.  We went with dark clouds looming, but no rain yet.  The minute we got out there Carmen donned her “beach smile.”  Pure joy.  We stayed for a little over an hour.  It got pretty cool and breezy.  Once we were back at our site and got everyone in the camper to eat popcorn and watch the Brady Bunch, it started raining cats and dogs, sideways.  A little thunder and lightning.  It’s gone now, just a line that came through.

Back to camping!
