Day 17 - Museum Day

Today we hit two museums.  We started with The Healy House and Dexter Cabin (combined tour) where my mom and her sister worked as tour guides the summer after their senior year.  Back in the day (the mining day) Leadville was the place to be (second largest city after Denver in the early 1900s – 50,000 pop!).  Mr. Healy and Mr. Dexter were two wealthy men who came here to work and play during Leadville’s boom.

Then we went to the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum.  This museum is in the old high school/junior high where my mom attended.  We even spotted some lockers downstairs by the bathrooms!  How funny!  It has over 75,000 square feet of exhibits and info.  We were there for quite a while.  The girls love museums.  They don’t really get bored and they want to see everything!

This afternoon is when we actually found City on a Hill and had coffee and vanilla steamers.  We just sat and enjoyed the vibe (and the leather couches and the coffee).  All very nice!
